Give parameters to start Zusi
Hi all,
Does anyone know what parameters can be given to Zusi at the command line to start it with a given route number?
I know that i can start it with this say to load a timetable file:
"Timetables\Deutschland\Hamburg_Kassel\Hannover_Paderborn-Kassel_1991_00Uhr-12Uhr.fpn"
But how to also give it a route number from within that timetable?
cheers
Neil

Re: Give parameters to start Zusi
You can use a fpn or trn file as parameter. ZusiSim exe will then load the file/start the train.

Hi Carsten, I tried using an .FPN file like i said in my first message, however all it does is load all the timetables in that file, how can i also start one of them at the same time?Carsten Hölscher hat geschrieben: 23.04.2025 11:41:18 You can use a fpn or trn file as parameter. Re: Give parameters to start Zusi
For some timetables, there is a .trn file for each train, you can pass that to start the train. If the trains are contained in the .fpn directly, you'll need to use something else, e.g. TCP.SevenThunders hat geschrieben: 23.04.2025 18:30:44 I tried using an .FPN file like i said in my first message, however all it does is load all the timetables in that file, how can i also start one of them at the same time?

Re: Give parameters to start Zusi
Okay after trying a .trn file it works, however you have to go through a popup dialog that asks if its okay to use Custom Arguments, and if so click Continue... is there any way to bypass this dialog box?Johannes hat geschrieben: 23.04.2025 18:36:54For some timetables, there is a .trn file for each train, you can pass that to start the train. And does anybody know why image uploads have been stopped on these posts?
It would be easier to show you what i mean about the dialog box if i could upload a screenshot.

Re: Give parameters to start Zusi
A screenshot would indeed be most helpful since I don't get that popup. You can use an image hosting site of your choice.

I guess Steam is asking this for security reasons in order to prevent malicious behavior.

I don't know any and I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't any way to bypass this since it is likely for security reasons.SevenThunders hat geschrieben: 23.04.2025 19:25:02 Yes, i know to click Continue, but how to bypass... i cannot see anything in the multitude of stupid steam settings

Re: Give parameters to start Zusi
There is lots of info over the web about it as per usual a million different ways to try and bypass it, none of which i have tried works... they revolve around the Launch Options box in Steam, and even if i got around that they'd probably change it again a week later so not worth the effort.yxyx hat geschrieben: 23.04.2025 20:01:15I don't know any and I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't any way to bypass this since it is likely for security reasons.SevenThunders hat geschrieben: 23.04.2025 19:25:02 Yes, i know to click Continue, but how to bypass... i cannot see anything in the multitude of stupid steam settings

However i can possibly add a launch option to Zusi Route Finder using this way, even if it means a user having to click Continue, it still beats having to find the folder and route manually

Re: Give parameters to start Zusi
Yea, this is a general issue. The web is always full of pages telling you "Hey, this article will solve all your problems!"... - at the end, no one actually helps. It can be very frustrating.SevenThunders hat geschrieben: 23.04.2025 20:12:38 There is lots of info over the web about it as per usual a million different ways to try and bypass it, none of which i have tried works...

Yes, i thought it would be steam, not a problem i can go with telling Zusi route finder users just to click the Continue buttonCarsten Hölscher hat geschrieben: 23.04.2025 23:38:12 I cannot change this behaviour, it's a steam function.

Re: Give parameters to start Zusi
Maybe you could also give it a try to contact steam support and ask if they have any idea or recommendation.
Otherwise it's totally fine to stay with your current solution.

Re: Give parameters to start Zusi
I am going to update Zusi Route Finder with a new Launch button for now, which will at least start Zusi...in the meantime i could ask Steam about the Launch options box that pops up, however, lets be honest steam seem to download and update their files and settings every time you start it up so the odds on being to do something that doesn't break all the time will be low.
Having said that... If i (or anyone else) ever do come up with a solution then i can always bring out a new version of Zusi Route Finder.
No problamo

Re: Give parameters to start Zusi
You can establish a tcp-connection to Zusi, start the train and terminate the connection. Demo code can be found in the _docu folder.

Re: Give parameters to start Zusi
In Windows shortcuts you can avoid the Steam-Message by using the Steam.exe as the target with the parameter “-applaunch [Game-ID]” instead of linking the game.exe directly, followed by the other required parameters.
For example the OMSI-Mapeditor: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 252530 -editor
Zusi has the ID 1040730.
