Hello everyone, excited to be part of the Zusi community as I really enjoy the game and its authenticity !

However, I got a question about the ICE 1604 (411) service on the VDE8 line : everytime I got various speed reductions from 230 to 100 to take the switches on the right rather than staying on the main line. I set chaos at 0% and I deselect the paramater to avoid cab signaling (as it is recommended for this particular line), so I don't understand why I have to switch so much whereas there is not so much traffic. Anyone could explain to me ? Many thanks in advance !

Jules

In reality this train has an extremely relaxed timetable (departure Coburg 6.44, arrival Erfurt 7.24). So I was like "what to do with all the available time?". I made this train drive along all the sidings on the route, and yet its still on time in Erfurt.

Hahaha ok, but in reality the train takes the sidings or arrives very early ? Anyway thanks for the enlightenment !

In reality the driver would drive "economically" - accelerating with less than the maximum possible force, travelling at a reduced top speed, and allowing the train to coast on gradients rather than using power and braking to maintain a constant speed.

If the train driver knows that he has lots of time a common way to handle this is to reduce the speed and save energy.
As the VDE8 is a route which ascends steadily and then after its summit (at km 134) descends steadily you could accelerate smoothly to let's say 160 on the uphill part and the let the gravity do the work on the downhill part towards Erfurt and start braking early.

(I tried this now. I edited the timetable to not take the sidings, accelerated to 160 and put the throttle down at km 134.
You still eventually reach 230 km/h and do not use any throttle after km 134 and you still are several minutes early.)
