Triplehead2go
Triplehead2go
Hi Zusiers,
Does -or will in the near future- Zusi support Matrox's Triplehead2Go expansion module, in the sense of wider view (more scenery to see)?
So far, I can use the "expanded" resolutions -of 3072x768 for example-
with Zusi, but all I get is not more scenery, just a magnification of the same "quantity" of scenery available with ordinary single monitor setups.
I understand there would arise issues with existing panels at that
resolution, but still one could use expanded modes with Zusi in full-screen
mode, to enjoy more scenery.

That's true Carsten, it just splits the signal across 3 displays.
So if I think right, as Zusi can run at all the resolutions supported by the computer's display card, all you need to do to add support for Triplehead2go, is to enable the user to easily adjust the driver's angle of view from within the cab or equivalently to add ZOOMING OUT capabalities to Zusi at least in full-screen mode.
Still if there is a way to adjust the driver's viewing angle via some kind of editor you already provide with the program, please let me know.

Thanks Carsten,
I had never noticed the zoom slider in the settings page. Using this slider, plus resizing a little bit the blue 'fenster' of a lok through the 'Fuehrerstandeditor' I was able to make Triplehead2go work with Zusi
properly, thus obtaining a much wider out-the-window view. And it looks great this way!
Having said that, I must also report that I was able to get Zusi to work with Triplehead only in the lowest resolution 'triple' mode: 1920x480 (3x [640x480]). However hard I tried, I could not get it to work with Zusi in the 2400x800 or 3072x768 modes either in full-screen or in windowed mode (although they appeared as available in Zusi's settings page), always getting the message 'ZugriffsVerletzung' or direct3d related messages.
Ofcourse I tested those things with an older Zusi version (my order for the
latest version is on it's way to you), but I'd like you to take a look at it, as I'm not sure whether Zusi crashes at those resolutions because of my hardware setup or whether this is a Zusi restriction.
Thanks again

I'll try Peter, I'm not very familiar with that stuff.
Regarding the issue I mentioned I just received the latest Zusi - CD.
Well, with version 2.4, no more tripleheadtogo compatibility problems.
I can now run Zusi at any "triple" resolution including 3072x1024 with no
problems, no crashes and most amazing: at a performance improved
by more than 500% ! Yes, that's true: Testing it on the 'fiktive strecke'
'Nonnendorf-Solheim' I used to get 7-10fps (at a visibility setting
of 3500m). In version 2.4, for the same settings, I get 30-50fps!.
Not to mention the amazing cockpit - lighting effects in dark enviroments.
Still I had some difficulty using my own bitmaps with the 2.4 version's cockpits, but I chose to post for this issue to the technical forum.
Best regards,
manolis
