BR 155

#1 Beitrag von Rbnqss »

What a lovely locomotive with very earpleasing sounds, have to turn volumes up when driving it, but a question is, has there any tracks where you can drive br155 over 100km/h or is it only used in freight trains?

Hi!

The Series 155 with its profile of high power and quite low speed is nowadays only useable in freight service. Some engines have the LZB system and these probably will exceed 100 kph on the high speed line Hannover - Wuerzburg with express container trains during the night.

Originally, when delivered to GDR's railways DR, the Series 155 (at the DR it was put into the system as Series 250) it pulled not only freigt trains but also heavy passenger trains with up to 120 kph.
In fact the locos were developed because the existing electric locos at DR were either pre-war designs with not enough power (e.g. Series E44) and highspeed of just 90 kph (Series E94) or the GDR after-war designs lacked of power either to pull heavy freight trains (freight engine Series 242, post-unification Series 142) or to reach maximum speed of 120 kph with heavy passenger trains (passenger engine Series 211, later 109)

Actually I'm not aware if the engine in Zusi has got LZB. If so, it might run on a express freight train on the Hildesheim-Goettingen high-speed track or you could replace a Series 120 or 152 with the 155. If it does not have LZB the problem is, that freight trains usually have to be limited to lower speeds due to their braking characteristics.

You can use the 155 on the Main-Weser-Bahn with freigth-trains. The maximum speed of the 155 is 125 kph. But this speed can be reached with fast freight-trains only. But you can always help yourself and make your own train. All locos of S-Bahn trains on the route 'Netz Düsseldorf' can be replaced by the 155. But you will never see such a train in reality...

P.S: Yes, there is a 155 with LZB in Zusi

Hello,

the BR 155 served also the Express-Trains between Dresden and Chemnitz in Saxony, they drived up to 120 kph and served the Track up to a year. But today the BR 155 is only used as a Freighttrain-Locomotive.

Mfg Matthias

Thans from information, i have no need to make own trains, i like the fact that the trains are as close real life than possible.
