I know thats not an English news forum but I think its also interesting for all of us.
On the 27th Juli the German Railway Cooperation (Deutsche Bahn) presents in Frankfurt (Main) her first completely redesigned InterCityExpress of the first generation (ICE1). Punctual at 12:40am the train set arrived in Frankfurt (Main) on platform 3, where quite a few guests wait for him.
Round about 42.000 seats, 12.000 power sockets, 40.000m² new carpets, 5.000 tables and many more are renewed up to the year 2008 when the redesign will be finished. All ICE1 train sets will receive a new unified configuration with 4 first class, 1 restaurant and 7 second class coaches.
Since the 5th August the first train set is back in the regular schedule and all passengers can experience the redesigned train. The coaches are now with power sockets and reservation displays up-to-date and ready for the next 15 years. The only things they missed are the board entertainment system, the footstool in the second class and the outside train destination displays.
