Kyushu - Mit Schmalspur-Triebwagen durch Japans Süden

Mein Lieblingskanal seit einiger Zeit ist "Euro Rails" mit über 200 Bahnvideos von Mitte der 1990er Jahre bis heute. Die Kommentare sind in niederländischer Sprache, aber vieles von dem, was er erzählt, versteht man auch ohne Sprachkenntnisse.

das sind schöne Filme. Ich bin richtig begeistert, dass ich unzählige Jahre nach Einsatzende noch die Reihen 16, 18 und 27 in Aachen bewundern kann. Ich selbst kenne Aachen nur mit ESTW. 2013 war ich erstmals dort und bin gleich hingezogen. Vielleicht findet sich noch jemand für die Nachbauten.

The 8500 series in the third video look like the German class 187 (Bombardier Traxx), and the front of the 4500 series EMU looks like the Talbot Talent (German class 643/644).

Its brother Series 8100 is just original BR 152 without Anti Climber. Series 8100 was produced only 2 unit in German for testing in Korean Railroad enviorment.

Series 8200 have siemens octave

Series 8200 do a most important role in korean railroad. More than 80% of passenger coachs are carried by Series 8200. It dramatically reduced trip time compared to american style diesel locomtotive GT26CW-2.
(Most trains are still operated in Coach, not EMU)

Series 8200 is used only for passenger train unlike in German Unlike german freight train, most korean freight trains are usually carrying heavy freight like coal and cement.(Containers are not primary) These heavy frieghts are produced in north east mountainous region, so it required to carry 20 cars(50t per car) in harsh condition like more than 30‰ gradient and 250R radius curve. Series 8200's light weight and low friction coefficient keep make wheelslip and have difficult to depart, so unable to use them to freight train.
(This is why we made new freight train Series 8500)

This German loco is such a milestone in Korea. In 2003, when this locos are commencing operations in Korean Railroad. The operator, KORAIL did realise how electric locomotives are efficient, it become a fuse to start to produce more EMUs and Electric locomotives. Also its cab becomes a standard cab design in newer locomotives (7600s and 8500s)

We already had Series 8000 which is licensed and modified version of Alstom SNCF BB15000.(bit different but it resemble) and EMU(we called Express Electric Car) for trunk lines. But when they were introduced to korea, most of trunk lines are not electrified(only for trunk line in northeast mountainous lines). So their limited operation, KORAIL didn't realise efficency of electrical trains at that time.

Yes it does look like them

Design of 8500 is part of manufacturer Hyundai Rotem's family look in early 2010s.(8500 developed on 2013)

The EMU is called TEC(Trunkline Electric Car), Series 200000. Based on Hitachi's 683 series, using A-Train.(KORAIL hadn't introduced japanese train for more than 30 years since 1974.)

N+P Design designed TEC from tremendous experiences on ICEs.
